LONG BEACH : Panel Urges Public Use of Church Parking Lot
- Share via
A parking committee has recommended that the city-owned lot at Bay Shore Congregational Church be open to the public, freeing 32 spaces in Belmont Shore that are mostly unused during the week.
Church officials said they are willing to discuss the idea as long as the lot is available to parishioners for Saturday weddings and Sunday church services.
The recommendation is one of 12 made by residents in the Belmont Shore neighborhood traffic study, said Dick Backus, the city’s traffic engineer. Similar studies from 23 Long Beach neighborhoods, including Belmont Shore, will be presented March 14 to the City Council.
