A VEGAS TALE

It was with great interest and mixed emotion that I read about Martin Scorsese’s filming of “Casino” (“Scorsese and Wiseguys: A Sure Bet?,” by Chris Willman, Feb. 5). I was friends with Geri Rosenthal from the time she fled Lefty and Las Vegas to come and live in Los Angeles until she died about a year later. By the stories she told me of her life in Vegas, I always thought it would make a good movie. It was tragic to know, however, that she had to leave behind her two young children that she was never to see again.
I do not believe that her death was a suicide, but that she was “taken out” by the powers-that-be. She was very proud of being a survivor and saw too much humor in her situation to take her own life.
