In response to your Feb. 1 story, “2 Sisters Leave $4 Million to Cal Lutheran University,” this letter recognizes the importance of higher education to the region.
The Potenberg family’s donation will help create vision for the university. The endowment will be used to fund a professorship in the religion department, and finance other programs and purposes such as computers, books, staffing and operating expenses. The investment in growth will allow the college to better serve students and future generations.
As a private Lutheran college in Ventura County, Cal Lutheran University brings together outstanding faculty, staff and students. Many CLU graduates are community leaders who contribute time and financial support to businesses and create a better quality of life. CLU not only attracts quality individuals nationally and around the world, but also adults from surrounding areas who rely on the university for a quality liberal arts education.
CLU brings to surrounding areas an avenue for culture and entertainment through its outstanding choirs, orchestras, dramatic productions and winning sports teams. CLU recognizes the achievements of the community as it brings increased business development that leads to growth and economic stability.
