Whitlock Draws a Suspension

Hawaii’s Tes Whitlock, former Loara basketball standout, has been suspended indefinitely for violating team rules.

Whitlock, a junior, was leading the team in scoring with an 18-point average. School officials declined to state which rules had been violated.

It was the latest downturn in Whitlock’s career. He signed with Arizona State out of high school, but he was ineligible as a freshman because he did not qualify under Proposition 48 guidelines. He played one season for the Sun Devils, then was academically ineligible.

Utah forward Brandon Jessie, who played at Edison, suffered a mild concussion during last Saturday’s game against Hawaii. Jessie was injured when Rainbow forward Justice Sueing elbowed him.

Western Athletic Conference officials suspended Sueing, who also hit Utah’s Alex Jensen, for the next two regular-season games.
