MISSION VIEJO : Gas Station Seeks OK for Mini-Market
- Share via
Mobil Oil Corp. will ask the Planning Commission for permission today to replace auto service bays with a bigger sales area and mini-market at a station at 26811 Trabuco Road.
The remodeling job would gut the inside of the station, replacing roll-up garage doors and service equipment with retail display racks and picture windows.
“It seems to be a trend with a lot of these service stations getting out of the service end and going with food and beverage sales,” city planner Chuck Wilson said.
Wilson recommended approval of the renovation. His job was made easier because no alcohol sales are planned. Application for an alcohol license would have generated a much higher level of scrutiny, he said.
“Adding alcohol certainly generates more traffic,” Wilson said.
The station’s hours will remain from 6 a.m. to midnight, which will become a condition of approval.
