COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Titans Again Defeat Texas

Tony Miranda and Jeremy Giambi each drove in two runs as Cal State Fullerton, the top-ranked team in the nation, beat Texas, 6-4, in a nonconference baseball game Sunday in front of 6,652 at Disch-Falk Field in Austin, Tex.
The Titans (17-3) took control with five runs in the third inning and starter Ted Silva and reliever Mark Kotsay held down Texas.
Silva (6-0) allowed four runs, one earned, and struck out four in 6 2/3 innings. Kotsay allowed three hits and no runs in the final 2 1/3 innings for his sixth save. He also had three hits, including a triple, and scored two runs.
Joe Fraser had a double and also scored for Fullerton, which plays at Pepperdine at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Fullerton then will play host to Gonzaga in a three-game series starting at 7 p.m. Friday.
In nonconference men’s tennis:
Arizona State 4, UC Irvine 3--The visiting Anteaters (6-5) were tied, 3-3, after singles but lost all three doubles matches.
Fred Bach beat Paul Reber, 6-4, 7-5, Julian Foxon beat David Critchley, 7-6, 6-3, and Ken Cruz beat Wolf von Lindenau, 6-4, 6-1, in singles for UC Irvine.
Arizona State is 6-2.
