Coach: Randy Brouwer (fourth year).
1994: 19-6, 14-1 in the Pacific Coast League. Lost to Saddleback, 6-3, in first round of the the Division III playoffs.
Key returners: Jake Anderson, OF, Sr.; Chris Black, P, Jr.; Brian Costello, 2B, Sr.; Ryan Kelley, P, Sr.; Kevin Kitmitto, OF, Sr.; John Lukin, C, Sr.; Matt Maslowski, P, Sr.; Ryan Poe, P, Jr.; Nick Punto, SS, Jr.; De Sha Runnels, OF, Sr.; Brentt York, OF, Sr.
Key newcomers: Josh Gause, 3B, Jr.; Tom Kilby, OF, Jr.; Matt Ruppe, P, Jr.
Outlook: Trabuco Hills changed leagues and will be chasing Mater Dei, like the football and basketball teams. But the Mustang baseball team might have the best chance at catching the Monarchs. Brouwer has plenty of pitching. Kelley was 10-3 with a 1.09 earned-run average. Poe was 4-0 with three saves. Black was 2-0 with a 1.35 ERA. The Mustangs are loaded with hitters, as well. Costello (.405, 20 runs batted in), Punto (.367, 19 runs), Anderson (.338, 20 RBIs) and Lukin (.301, 17 RBIs) are returning starters. York hit .300 as a reserve player.
