The Technology Center at Orange Coast College is, appropriately enough, a model of high-tech energy efficiency.
By using special glass and other innovative elements, the college expects to save about $42,000 per year in energy costs.
The building has been praised by Southern California Edison, which recently presented the college with a $50,000 check through the utility’s Design for Excellence program.
The $9.6-million center opened for classes last August.
Among the courses offered there are computer graphics and machine technology.
