GIRLS’ SWIMMING AND DIVING 1995: PREVIEW : Six Teams To Watch : CAPISTRANO VALLEY
- Share via
Coach: Don Cholodenko (10th year).
1994: 6-4, 3-2 in the South Coast League. Finished third behind Mission Viejo and El Toro in league but managed a third-place finish in the Division I finals.
Key returners: Summer Brown (diver), Sr.; Cathy Carone, Sr.; Carly Cox, So.; Casie Day (diver), Jr.; Carrie Dean, Jr.; Tracey McCalley, Sr.; Kellee Miklaus, Jr.; Delilah More (diver), So.; Shannon Pace (diver), Jr.; Jessica Povey, So.; Katherine Redding, Jr.; Stephanie Stephens, Jr.
Key newcomers: Tammy Pace, Fr.; Lori Williamson, Jr.
Outlook: Capistrano Valley will no doubt be battling city rival Mission Viejo for the league title, now that El Toro has moved to the Sea View League. The Cougars are returning nearly all of their top swimmers and their top-notch diving team, led by Brown. Whether they will have enough depth to keep up with the Diablos is the big question. But with the help of key swimmers Carone, Cox and McCalley, the Cougars certainly won’t be a pushover. Watch for Capistrano Valley’s medley relay team to be especially good.
