OXNARD : Takasugi to Meet With Defense Chief

As part of a yearly trip for California state legislators, Assemblyman Nao Takasugi (R-Oxnard) will travel to Washington to stress the importance of the Port Hueneme Naval Construction Battalion Center and the Point Mugu Naval Air Warfare Center, Weapons Division,his office announced.
Takasugi is scheduled to meet with Defense Secretary William Perry on base closures and also with officials at the Department of Agriculture to stress the importance of the pesticide methyl bromide to Oxnard strawberry growers.
The assemblyman opposes plans to eliminate the pesticide until growers can find an adequate substitute.
