HIGH SCHOOL ROUNDUP : Hart’s Woes Continue in 6-3 Loss to Rio Mesa
- Share via
Bud Murray is a winning coach without a victory. And he’s tired of it.
After a 6-3 setback at Rio Mesa on Tuesday dropped Hart to 0-4, the coach of the defending Foothill League champions dropped a hint to his players--no one is safe.
“Some of these guys who played today aren’t going to see the field again,” Murray said. “We’re going to shake up our lineup.”
The Indians took a 3-0 lead on a first-inning home run by Brian Baron and three second-inning singles, but two Hart errors in the third led to six runs for Rio Mesa (2-2).
Rio Mesa’s Daniel Martinez settled down, allowing six hits over five innings. Richard Soliz did not allow a hit over the final two innings.
Hart had to forfeit its only victory in order to clear the eligibility of sophomore Eric Horvat, a transfer from Alemany. Horvat played in Hart’s victory over University but the Southern Section had not received word of his transfer. Horvat is now eligible.
