A 4.3-mile segment of the Foothill Tollway will open April 7, giving residents of Rancho Santa Margarita and Coto de Caza relief from the El Toro “Y” interchange, tollway officials said Friday.
The new section extends from El Toro Road in Foothill Ranch south to Antonio Parkway in Rancho Santa Margarita and connects with 3.2 miles of tollway that is already open between Sand Canyon Avenue and El Toro Road.
When completed, the Foothill Tollway will stretch 30 miles from San Clemente to Irvine, where it will connect with the planned Eastern Tollway east of Interstate 5. Tolls on the new segment of the road will range from 25 cents to $1. Residents of Robinson Ranch, Dove Canyon and Mission Viejo also will benefit from the opening of the new link.
