Telethon Encourages University Backers
Those of us who have longed for a full-fledged university in Ventura County were heartened beyond words on March 18 when much of our county either watched or participated in our Class Act Telethon on KADY-TV.
We not only reached our yearlong fund-raising goal of $60,000 but surpassed it by nearly 40%. (We had already raised about $48,000, but needed to close the large gap--or cut more classes.)
This response also meant that infectious enthusiasm is rampant as Ventura County residents anticipate their long-awaited public university.
On behalf of our Class Act Committee, our Community Advisory Boad, our faculty, our 1,400 students and our eight staff members, I send our deep and abiding thanks for the heartwarming success.
