SOMIS : Fire That Injured 4 Linked to Heater
- Share via
Ventura County fire officials say a pillow too close to a heater may have sparked a fire in Somis that injured two children, their mother and a neighbor Sunday night and killed the family dog.
The fire gutted the tiny house in the 3400 block of East Street, and Beverly Cosner and her children, Kelsey, 7, and Kyle, 10, received minor burns. They were treated at Pleasant Valley Hospital and released.
Firefighters commended neighbors, who helped out before they arrived at the scene. One neighbor who helped rescue the children suffered smoke inhalation and was treated at the scene.
The fire broke out about 10:30 p.m. and took about 20 minutes to bring under control.
It caused about $50,000 of damage to the house, which was destroyed.
