States Boost Spending to Promote Tourism: U.S. state governments increased outlays to promote travel and tourism by about 7% in the fiscal year ended June 30, according to a survey conducted by the Travel Industry Assn. The states expect to spend about $399 million this year, up from about $372 million last year, the association said. The growth in spending is more than double the rate of inflation.
