Tamil rebels attacked an army base in the jungles of eastern Sri Lanka, killing at least 25 soldiers and suffering at least 12 deaths of their own, military officials said. The attack came three days after the rebels called off a three-month truce and pulled out of peace talks, saying the government had not met their demands.
