COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pomona-Pitzer Powers Past Cal Lutheran

Brett Primack’s three-run homer capped a six-run eighth-inning to vault Pomona-Pitzer to a 14-9 victory over Cal Lutheran in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game Friday at North Field in Thousand Oaks.
Steve Fjeldseth (3-1) suffered his first loss after relieving starter Doug Forcheski in the eighth.
The Sagehens (17-16, 11-8) rallied for three consecutive singles and two walks before the blow by Primack.
The Kingsmen (22-11, 12-7) were led by Jeff Marks’ three-run homer and two-run single.
The third-place Sagehens are one game behind the Kingsmen with two SCIAC games remaining.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Pasadena, 15-12, 15-8, 15-12--Jason Ring had 14 kills and Dan Nash had 41 assists as the Brahmas (17-2, 16-2) clinched their fourth consecutive South Coast Conference title at Pasadena.
