The Leimert Park Dance Project, a six-week dance residency project offering free classes, begins Monday and runs through June 7. Classes culminate in a performance June 11 at Crenshaw High School’s gym.
Funded in part by a grant from the city Cultural Affairs Department, the project seeks to provide free instruction in a variety of dance techniques to people of all ages in the Leimert Park area.
Teen-age, adult and family unity classes will be led by instructors and dancers from Naomi Goldberg’s Los Angles Modern Dance & Ballet, the Dance Collective and the Jazzantiqua Dance Ensemble.
Instruction will be held in several Crenshaw-area sites.
The project is being co-sponsored by L.A. Best, a city-sponsored after-school activities program. Instruction will be offered to dancers of all abilities in jazz, ballet, modern dance and African techniques.
Information and schedule: (213) 655-6812.
