Ventura County has $81,000 in grant money available for organizations that work with the county’s families.
The county is looking for applicants to its 1995 Family Preservation and Support Program Service and Family Grants.
Jerry Blesener, deputy director of Adult and Child Protective Services, said the grant is a five-year effort to strengthen the community’s families.
Eligible organizations are those that reduce the number of protective services referrals, improve family health care and improve the employment status of needy families.
The grants range from $500 to $25,000 each, with a special $10,000 planning grant that will target families in Fillmore and those living along Ventura Avenue.
The county is accepting applications until May 30. A mandatory conference for prospective applicants is scheduled to take place at the Ventura County Government Center at 9 a.m. May 15. For more information, call 652-7675.
