Regals Ride Out Storm

Cal Lutheran did not play Saturday in the NCAA Division III West softball regional because of rain in Storm Lake, Iowa.
The Regals’ game against Simpson College in the losers’ bracket, which was halted by rain Friday with Simpson leading, 2-1, after three innings, will resume at 10 a.m. PDT today.
The four-team, double-elimination tournament is now scheduled to conclude Monday, rather than today.
The regional champion advances to the Division III finals next weekend in Storm Lake.
The third-seeded Regals (28-11), making their second trip to the NCAA playoffs, lost their opener, 3-2, in eight innings to second-seeded Buena Vista, the host team.
