Student Sees Through ‘Fright Night’ Films

Re “Fright Night” (May 1): I am a 16-year-old and one of the very few students at my school who has never seen a “Halloween” or a “Jason” movie.
Truthfully, I do not believe I am missing out. I saw one “Elm Street” movie and found it not only lacked a plausible plot and good directing, but that it was utterly boring.
I take interest in scary movies such as “Jacob’s Ladder,” “Apocalypse Now” and “A Clockwork Orange.” To me these are much more frightening than slasher movies due to the fact that they represent what could be and what has already been.
Although these movies portray an extreme amount of violence, they contain strong plots and have very intuitive, creative ideas.
I am appalled that so many people my age are stimulated by violent, no-brain slasher movies.
