World IN BRIEF : HONDURAS : Lightning Strikes Village, Killing 16

Sixteen people were killed and 22 were injured when lightning struck a village in eastern Honduras, hospital sources said. The victims, all but one of whom were Misquito Indians, were watching a soccer game when the lightning struck the village, 260 miles northeast of Tegucigalpa, Thelma Soliman, director of the state hospital in Puerto Lempira, said one of the injured was in critical condition. An official at the U.S. National Weather Service said the lightning was caused by electric storms as Tropical Storm Allison approached the eastern coast of Honduras.
