ITC Refuses to Impose Sanctions on Disposable Lighters: In a 4-2 vote, the International Trade Commission rejected an anti-dumping complaint from the Bic Corp. that said imports are harming the domestic producer. Bic is the only U.S. company that makes disposable pocket lighters. The ITC said there is insufficient evidence that the Chinese lighters are injuring or threaten to injure Milford, Conn.-based Bic because they are being sold at less than fair value. “We are totally amazed, disillusioned and frustrated by the ITC ruling,” Bic President Ray Winter said. He noted that the Commerce Department had recommended putting duties of nearly 200% on the Chinese lighters.
