Record Not Expected, but Bass Was Expecting

Andres Herrera, hometown unknown, walked into the Country Store near Silverwood Lake on Monday morning, weighed his fish and walked away the new lake-record holder for striped bass.
Herrera used a four-inch silver Rat-L-Trap lure to catch a striper weighing 50 pounds 12 ounces and measuring a little more than four feet.
“It’s a beast, man, a behemoth, huge,” said Jim Hughes, store clerk. “I don’t want to slander the guy, but the fish he caught was pregnant as all hell--it had about eight pounds of eggs in it.”
Such, it seems, is the stuff records are made of.
The previous record was a 48-pound 13-ounce striper caught in September 1994.
