CAMARILLO : City Renews Business Recruiter’s Contract

The Camarillo City Council renewed the contract of its economic development director Wednesday night.
James Jevens will receive $45,000 to act as the city’s part-time business recruiter through June, 1996. He will be paid $75 an hour for 50 hours of work per month. He will report to City Manager Bill Little and will receive six- and 12-month reviews.
Jevens’ extension was approved unanimously and with little discussion. Camarillo hired Jevens 13 months ago, and city officials credit him with luring WellPoint Health Networks to Camarillo. He also was pivotal in luring several retail and entertainment companies to the city, including two multi-screen movie theaters.
“I’m convinced that he’s paying off and will continue to pay off,” Little said.
Jevens said he will concentrate his recruitment energies on bringing biomedical and related industries to Camarillo.
