College: One Woman’s Fraternity Experience
- Share via
I am writing in response to the cover story “Animal House is Over” (Westside section, June 8). As a college freshman, I experienced Greek life firsthand as a “little sister” for one of the top fraternities at my campus. The stereotypical party scenes were full of beer, drunkenness and the degradation of women or, as in my case, underage girls. Philanthropy and scholastics are not a priority in the life of fraternity boys. However, date rape and group sex are. I’m glad that limitations are being set on alcohol consumption and parties. I only wish the entire Greek system would be abolished. Forgive me if I don’t mourn for the loss of the “animal house” days. Good riddance!
