Artists of Latin America

Almost 150 works by 35 artists from 11 countries are featured in an exhibit, “Latin American Women Artists, 1915-1995” opening this weekend at the Phoenix Art Museum. The exhibit, which organizers say is the first in the United States to emphasize the importance of Latin American women to 20th-Century visual arts, includes painting, sculpture, fiber, works on paper and multimedia installations. The show marks the opening of the museum’s 9,100-square foot Special Exhibitions Gallery and runs through Oct. 1. One-hour tours are offered at 2 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday and at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
