It’s Your Life : MUSIC CONTEST : Bands Will Do Battle for Metro Awards
- Share via
The recently concluded Battle of the Bands at Ventura’s Metro Retro Knight Club has been more or less resurrected as the Metro Music Awards, a competition among local bands that will end with a compilation CD.
A pair of very good Ventura bands, JuJu Eyeball and Limehause, play next Wednesday.
JuJu Eyeball, inspired by a line in the Beatles’ “Come Together,” is Frank Barajas’ latest band.
His other bands, the Strangers and Durango 95, were both tight pop-rock outfits doing a bunch of his originals and some tasty covers by bands such as the Plimsouls.
Limehause is Brian Lunetta’s newest musical adventure.
Formerly the front man for In Between Jobs, then the In Betweens, Lunetta plays raucous party music.
The Metro Retro Knight Club will continue to showcase local bands on Wednesday and every other Friday.
* Show time is 9 p.m. Wednesday; $2; 652-0100.
