Secretary of State Warren Christopher, making a four-nation swing through Asia this week, will meet with Chinese Foreign Minister Qian Qichen today in Brunei, where he will also take part in the annual meeting of leaders of the Assn. of Southeast Asian Nations.
High on the agenda in Brunei will be the Chinese demand that President Clinton apologize for letting Lee Teng-hui become the first president of Taiwan to visit the United States.
On Thursday, Christopher will pay a one-day visit to Malaysia for talks with Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad. After a stop in Cambodia, he will visit Vietnam, cementing the normalization of diplomatic relations announced last month by President Clinton.
