Seles Will Skip Manhattan Beach Tournament

Monica Seles has decided not to play in next week’s Acura Classic at Manhattan Country Club, ending weeks of speculation.
Seles had been expected to make her return to the professional tennis tour either next week or at Toronto beginning Aug. 14. It is not known if Seles will play in Toronto or any tournament before the U.S. Open, which she has entered.
Seles, who played an exhibition against Martina Navratilova last week, has been bothered by tendinitis in her left knee but has said she hopes to gain tournament experience before the Open, which begins Aug. 28.
