DuPont Investment Grows: The U.S. chemical giant’s total investment in China soon will reach $300 million, and the company will continue to seek joint ventures, licensing agreements and direct investments with the Chinese, Chairman Edgar Woolard said. In a three-day visit to Shanghai, where several DuPont plants are, Woolard said 20-plus projects are in the works and that ventures in fibers, electronics, chemicals and polymers are “very close to finalization.” E.I. DuPont de Nemours & Co. already has an herbicide joint venture with Asia Pacific Agricultural Chemical (Group) Co., a photo-mask joint venture with Shanghai Photomask Precision Co. and a spandex fiber manufacturing joint venture with China Worldbest.
