An Oxnard couple has pledged $50,000 to Boy Scouts of America chapters over the next four years.
Mary Ann Underwood, who owns Oxnard’s PAL Employer Services with her husband, Jerry, said the company pledged the money to encourage the types of qualities that scouting programs develop in young people.
“We also like that scouting is not city-specific, so no matter where we have employees, it fits,” she said. The Underwoods’ company has offices nationwide.
More than 7,000 youngsters will benefit from the donation. The Underwoods also plan to sponsor other Boy Scout fund-raising events, such as the annual Boy Scouts Golf Classic and the 1995 Boy Scouts Auction.
