Ice Cream Maker to Donate to Garcia Fund: In tribute to rock star Jerry Garcia, Ben & Jerry’s will donate 50 cents to a Grateful Dead-affiliated charity for each cup or cone of its Cherry Garcia ice cream sold over the next few days. The North Moreton, Vt.-based company said that all sales of Cherry Garcia ice cream, frozen yogurt or other novelties at the company’s shops will result in a donation to the Rex Foundation, which makes grants to causes involving arts, entertainment, social services and indigenous cultures. Garcia, the band’s guitarist, died Wednesday in Northern California of an apparent heart attack. The donations will be separate from past donations the ice cream maker has made to the same foundation.
