Valleywide : 5 Finalists Named for Fernando Award

Five San Fernando Valley community leaders, including the president of Cal State Northridge and the chairman of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn., were named finalists for the 37th annual Fernando Award at a Universal City luncheon Friday.
The award recognizes “the person who best represents the spirit of volunteerism in the San Fernando Valley,” according to organizers.
Selected from a field of 13 nominees, this year’s finalists are Kenneth C. Banks Jr., a North Hollywood insurance broker; Bud Brown, a retired district manager for GTE; Walter W. Mosher Jr., president of Precision Dynamics Corp. and chairman of the Valley Industry and Commerce Assn.; Nancy L. Schmidt, branch manager of American Pacific State Bank, and CSUN President Blenda J. Wilson.
Finalists were selected by the voting members of Fernando Award Inc. The winner will be announced at a formal dinner Nov. 3 at the Warner Center Marriott in Woodland Hills. For ticket information, call (818) 881-5000.
