The Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley will be receiving donations from Thrifty Car Rental for every car rented during September at the Simi Valley rental agency.
Thrifty officials at the 995 E. Los Angeles Ave. agency will donate 50 cents for every car rented this month. Thrifty’s national office will also match the franchise’s donation.
The Simi Valley agency rents, on average, between 300 and 500 vehicles monthly.
The Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley will use the donation to help run its regular programs, including Ping-Pong, pool, arts and crafts, basketball, volleyball, theater, hiking, tutoring and environmental activities.
The nonprofit Simi Valley organization annually serves about 1,900 children between the ages of 7 and 15.
On Wednesday, the sixth annual Boys & Girls Club of Simi Valley golf tournament raised $14,500, said Executive Director Linda White.
The money will be used to buy new equipment for the club, she said. The equipment will go into the existing clubhouse, but be moved when the organization moves in April into a new, $3.3-million facility at 2850 Lemon St. in Lemon Park.
Held at the Simi Hills Golf Course, the golf tournament was co-sponsored by Simi Valley Bank, Pacific Beverage and Rotary of Simi Sunrise.
