Agents: Representatives of Creative Artists Agency and the major talent guilds are expected to meet on Sept. 27 to discuss the company’s new ownership structure to assure the guilds that there is a sufficient arms-length relationship between CAA and former partners Michael S. Ovitz and Ron Meyer. Meyer, former president of CAA, left to join MCA Inc. as president, while Ovitz is leaving as chairman to join Walt Disney Co. on Oct. 1 as president. Nine partners were named to the agency’s new management group. Sources have said that the stakes of Ovitz and Meyer are being put into a blind trust so they could be bought out over time. Guild rules prohibit studios or their executives from owning talent agencies. Another topic at the meeting could be the ownership of CAA’s I.M. Pei-designed headquarters building in Beverly Hills, which has been owned by a partnership that included Ovitz and Meyer.
