Gonzalez Rushes for 151 Yards in Estancia Victory

GARDEN GROVE — Estancia quarterback Jeff Perry attempted only three passes, but completed two for touchdowns to highlight a 28-0 victory over La Quinta in a nonleague football game Thursday at Bolsa Grande High.
Bachy Gonzalez rushed for 151 yards in 23 carries and Joe Flores had three of Estancia’s five sacks to lead the defense. It was Estancia’s fifth consecutive shutout against La Quinta.
Perry started the scoring for Estancia (2-0), connecting with Taleni Tanielu for a 35-yard touchdown pass with 3 minutes 44 seconds remaining in the first quarter.
Perry’s second scoring pass was a 72-yarder to Chris Felix with 3:47 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Estancia took a 13-0 lead with 2:39 remaining in the second quarter when Frough Jahid scored on a 29-yard touchdown run. Gonzalez ran for the two-point conversion to make it 15-0.
Gonzalez almost scored a touchdown with 9:48 remaining in the fourth quarter, but after a 17-yard run, he fumbled into the end zone and teammate Chuck Johnson recovered for a 21-0 lead.
Junior Jhamal Dawkins had 12 carries for 33 yards for La Quinta (0-2).
