Four-Star Films : ‘Detour’
Edgar Ulmer’s 1945 film noir classic is one of the most intense psychological thrillers ever made. It stars Tom Neal, who has good reason to regret ever crossing paths with the perfectly cast--and aptly named--Ann Savage. Recently and disappointingly remade, with Tom Neal Jr. in his father’s role (A&E; Tuesday at 2 a.m.).
