Choose Carefully for Supervisor’s Seat

* Clerk-Recorder Gary L. Granville, nice fellow though he may be, is all wrong for the opening on the Orange County Board of Supervisors (“Supervisors Criticized for Lagging on Reform,” Aug. 30).
He is clearly out of step with the county he would serve, as demonstrated by his active role in supporting Measure R, the tax measure voters hated. [Gov.] Pete Wilson should choose someone with respect for the taxpayer and the vision to work for a tighter county ship.
That means, for openers, a record of opposition to Measure R. It also means leadership, organization and a knowledge of government finance. The neighborhood where Pete Wilson should be looking houses those who led the “No on R” fight--Committees of Correspondence board member Bruce Whitaker, among others.
