Clinton Declares Disaster Area in Parts of Alaska

ANCHORAGE — President Clinton has declared flooded parts of south-central Alaska a federal disaster area.
The declaration, requested by Gov. Tony Knowles, allows federal money to be used for up to 75% of the cost of repairing or replacing flood-damaged public facilities.
