* Barry R. Barkley was named senior vice president and controller of Great Western Financial Corp. in Chatsworth. Previously, Barkley was executive director of corporate re-engineering at Banc One Corp., and chief financial officer of Banc One’s Texas subsidiary.
* Mark Herrera has been appointed senior art director at Wiley Designs, a Westlake Village advertising agency. He was formerly senior art director in the advertising department of Reveal Computer Products in Los Angeles.
* Jim Negrete has been hired as advertising sales manager of the Ventura County & Coast Reporter. He was formerly with the Daily News.
