HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL : St. Bonaventure Pulls Away, Helped by Sanchez’s 2 Scores

VENTURA — Topi Sanchez rushed for 102 yards and two touchdowns in the second half as St. Bonaventure pulled away from Calabasas for a 19-7 nonleague victory Thursday night at Ventura High.
Sanchez, a senior tailback, finished with 150 yards and the two scores in 26 carries. He has rushed for 22 touchdowns and has scored 140 points. The latter mark leads the area’s Southern Section players.
The Seraphs (6-2) led, 6-0, at halftime after Pepe Villasenor caught a 37-yard touchdown pass from Teohua Sanchez late in the second quarter. St. Bonaventure increased its lead midway through the third quarter when Topi Sanchez scored on a six-yard run. The key play on the nine-play, 83-yard drive was a 41-yard run by Topi Sanchez.
St. Bonaventure scored its final points with eight minutes to play on a five-yard run by Topi Sanchez to finish a methodical 13-play, 84-yard drive.
The Coyotes (6-2) got their score with six minutes to play on a one-yard run by quarterback Zak Lovenson.
Teohua Sanchez completed 17 of 28 passes with a touchdown and an interception while Villasenor caught six passes for 83 yards and a touchdown for St. Bonaventure.

Glendale 30, Pasadena 29--Andrew Johnson’s 10-yard touchdown reception with 47 seconds remaining and his catch on the ensuing two-point conversion lifted the host Dynamiters in a Pacific League game at Glendale High.
Glendale (3-4-1, 1-2 in league play) rallied from a 21-point deficit by scoring twice in the final 38 seconds of the first half.
Glendale quarterback Jeremy Callister completed 10 of 18 passes for 157 yards and four touchdowns.
