New County Stock Index

Today, the Times Orange County Edition launches a new feature, the Bloomberg Orange County Index.
The index, prepared by Bloomberg Financial Markets with the assistance of the Los Angeles Times, is a price-weighted stock index of 117 publicly traded companies with market capitalization of more than $15 million. The companies are either headquartered in the county or are major employers here.
The index has been calculated back to Dec. 29, 1994, at a value of 100.
The Orange County index--located today on D7--will be listed regularly in The Times with the county stock tables. Companion regional and state Bloomberg indexes can be found on D9.
