A family dispute turned deadly for a 43-year-old Redlands resident staying with relatives while he worked on a local construction project, San Fernando police said Wednesday.
Rosalio Pelayo was staying with family members at a house in the 500 block of South Huntington Street in San Fernando when he got into an argument Tuesday with his 22-year-old nephew, Saul Pelayo, visiting from San Diego, Detective Mike Langston said.
A few hours later, about 9 p.m., the two began fighting again and Saul Pelayo took out a gun and shot his uncle several times in the torso and head, Langston said.
Saul Pelayo fled and remains at large, and Rosalio Pelayo died at the scene, Langston said.
Langston said Rosalio Pelayo had accused his nephew of freeloading off the family.
