SANTA ANA : Pedestrian Dies a Day After Being Hit by Car

A pedestrian who was hospitalized after being struck by a car at a busy intersection has died, authorities said Monday.
Efren Gonzalez, 21, had stepped off the center median into oncoming traffic in the 500 block of Fairview Street about 9 p.m. Saturday and was struck by a car traveling south, police said. He suffered critical injuries and was transported to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he died a day later, officials said.
Gonzalez was not in a crosswalk when he was struck. Police said they have not cited the driver and are continuing the investigation.
