ORANGE COUNTY HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: PREP EXTRA : Cypress Beats Century, Clinches Playoff Berth

SANTA ANA — Cypress clinched its first playoff berth in 15 years with a 17-6 Empire League victory over Century Thursday night at Santa Ana Stadium.
Cypress scored all of its points in the second quarter and held Century to 14 yards in total offense in the first half.
After a scoreless first quarter, Cypress fullback Mike Jin scored on a seven-yard run with 11 minutes 56 seconds remaining in the first half.
Cypress doubled its lead two minutes later when Bobby Brito intercepted a Jerry Diaz pass and returned it 10 yards for a touchdown and a 14-0 lead.
Mike Meza made a 27-yard field goal with 4:57 left in the first half to give Cypress (3-7, 3-2) a 17-0 halftime lead.
After Moroni Rodriguez recovered a fumble, Century put together a 62-yard, 12-play drive capped by a 13-yard touchdown pass from Diaz to Jose Serratos. Serratos missed the point after because of a bad snap.
