COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Pope Leads Golden West to Victory, State Berth

Jeremy Pope scored three goals as Golden West defeated Grossmont, 10-6, in the third-place game of the Southern California Regional water polo championships Saturday night at Belmont Plaza. Both teams qualify for the State championships.
Aaron Quigley scored two goals for the Rustlers (27-4-1) and goalie Clay Cornhall had four saves.
John Massow scored three goals for Grossmont (27-4-1).
In the Barstow men’s basketball tournament third-place game:
Mt. San Jacinto 73, Cypress 70 (OT)--Jason Krauss had 22 points for Cypress (1-2), which was outscored, 13-10, in overtime.
In nonconference men’s basketball:
Orange Coast 94, Rio Hondo 54--Matt Ambrose scored 21 points and had 10 rebounds to lead Orange Coast (2-0).
In nonconference women’s basketball:
Saddleback 77, Grossmont 32--Maureen Skehan scored 16 points and teammate Cha-Ron Walker had 14 points and 12 rebounds to lead Saddleback (1-0) in its season opener.
