Senate Run Is Scotched

WASHINGTON — Rep. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) said Monday he will not run for the Senate and urged incumbent Sen. Nancy Landon Kassebaum to run for another term. The announcement ended weeks of speculation of a run. Roberts said a heavy workload as House Agriculture Committee chairman precluded the commitment needed for a Senate race.
