COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : DeBruijn’s Triple-Double Leads Fullerton to Victory

Michelle deBruijn had a triple-double to lead Fullerton past Pasadena City, 108-37, in the first round of the Long Beach City women’s basketball tournament Thursday at Long Beach.
DeBruijn had 24 points, 13 rebounds and 10 steals for Fullerton (2-1), which led, 47-23, at halftime. The Hornets also got big games from Julie Ruud, who had 16 points and 10 assists; Lacey Sollie, who had 15 points and 18 rebounds, and Nicole deBruijn, who had 21 points.
Pasadena is 0-2.
In the Mt. San Jacinto tournament:
Saddleback 111, Compton 17--Charon Walker, who has signed a letter of intent with Arizona, had 29 points and 21 rebounds for Saddleback (2-0). Maureen Skehan had 24 points and 11 steals for Saddleback, which outscored Compton, 56-5, in the second half.
In the Fullerton Classic men’s basketball tournament:
Dixie (Utah) 87, Saddleback 78--Kevin Simpson had 28 points and Kawika Akina added 22 for Dixie (5-0). Anthony Carter had 24 points and six assists for Saddleback (0-2), which made only two of 16 shots from three-point range.
In the Irvine Valley tournament:
Mt. San Jacinto 74, Irvine Valley 65--Darryl Todd had 18 points and Brandon Hearvey added 10 for Irvine Valley (0-2), which led by two points at halftime.
Mt. San Jacinto is 3-1.
