Brentwood’s girls’ tennis team won the Southern Section Division IV title match, 13-5, over Santa Ynez on Tuesday. The Eagles have reached the final for five consecutive seasons but had not won since 1991. Kerry Callaghan and Olivia Garcia-McKean were dominant at Nos. 1 and 3 singles for Brentwood, and the team was aided by the surprise victory of Jessica Gardner and Kim Mariash at No. 3 doubles. . . . The Palisades boys and girls finished third and sixth respectively at the City cross-country finals Saturday at Pierce College. The boys were led by Juan Gama, fifth in 16:11. Genevieve Cruise led the girls’ team with a 13th-place finish in 20:37. . . . Beverly Hills’ 22-15 loss to South Hills in the first round of the playoffs was its fourth consecutive first-round loss. . . . Brentwood’s football team advanced to the eight-man Large Division championship with a 40-24 victory over Pasadena Poly. Rico Saken rushed for 143 yards and two touchdowns and Scott Fagan scored twice. The Eagles play host to Flintridge on Saturday for the title.
